Dee Karl: It Starts Tonight: One-on-one with Snow & Capuano A few minutes spent during my lunch hour with the GM and an impromptu Q&A with the coach. More fan than reporter. But that's me.

Dee, you need to man up and ask that joker some serious questions. No one likes Fluff. Put the screws to him. Here, try these.

Q. Garth, considering the teams track record under your guidance, can you give me a single reason you should retain you job?

Q. Do you have a plan in place for dealing with Tavare's inevitable trade demands, when he finally realizes you have no idea what you're doing and this"rebuild" will never end?

Q. With all of the young talent in the Islanders organization, do you feel a real GM would be able to make this team competitive in short order?

nothing starts today.... There is no way no way this team makes the post season... if garth is convinced he has a shot, he is halucinating on some really good barbituates. 15 games remaining 7 points out ...and a few teams to hop over its a mountain to steep to climb

I promise you I'm not drinking the kool-aid and I don't think this will happen but if the Isles win both of their games this weekend and Boston beats Washington today (very possible) then they would only be 3 points out. Once again, I do not believe this will happen but that is the situation.

We chatted for a long time. I'll give you the answers right now.
1) Because he believes in the rebuild and it's progression and two because so does the owner.
2) JT is happy where he is. If the day comes that he "demands" things that are unrealistic for the franchise, then they will be dealt with at the time.
3) No. GMs don't make a team competitive, the talent does. the talent is young, they're developing. And they will.

Also, as I sidenote, I have someething else to tell you.
yesterday I tweeted out a question as to Whose fault is it? Jack's or the players. I had an overwhelming response to the Q.

I copied and printed out every single one, including those that said the GM was at fault too.

He read them all. Every last one. And that was before he answered my questions.

Are the questions soft? Those on the tape, perhaps. But if you think my asking the "tough" questions is going to get us anywhere, you're mistaken.

The best thing I can do is continue to be a "fan advocate." I'm letting him know how the fanbase feels and what their concerns are.

Sorry... that's the best I can do.

The kool-aide is good. It mixes well with vodka. I've been accused of drinking it for years. but it's okay....

It's "FAN-AIDE" and you know what? I like it.

Dee, did you bring up some of my GM comments I made last week??????

Also news.. PA is playing with a broken finger, but news not yet released,
will be wearing special gloves.

Funny thing in your conversation, Garth looking for a top 4 d-man,
not gonna happen in FA market, an he's to dumb to make a trade for one.
Snow will end up getting the wrong D-man....

Wang is an bumhole of an owner, found out recently, its Wang's fault we dont have a NHL calibur coach, not Snow's.

Yes I did.

Wang's not an bumhole. bumholes don't become millionaires.

There aren't that many high caliber D men out there. Do you want to trade JT for one? No.

And while the comments did look like a witch-hunt against Jack, if Nolan wasn't the one, (and he wasn't) and Gordon wasn't the one, and Cappy's not the one... who is? It's the men in the locker room. They have to LEARN how to win. You can't keep changing the coach every time the team loses.

But that said... IF and that's a big IF... Capuano doesn't return, I'd say look to Thompson before you look to some other big name coach ... who was also fired by some other NHL team. Think of that. Every big name coach out there was fired by another club. That says something.

A busy GM? What has Garth done that makes him so busy? If it's running away from making trades or making tough decisions I guess he has been busy in that regard.

Regardless if all the teams in front of us win this weekend, if Washington loses and the islanders sweep both games, they'll still only be 3 out of 8th. Once again, don't see it happening, just stating the reality of the situation.

Dee, have a big question?

Nolan was the one coach who won with less talent....
Reason for his firing is complete b.s.
Dont want to get into much details, but 1 main reason was bc Yashin was close with bumhole Wang, an Yashin did not like the fact he was place on 4th line.
The owner knows nothing bout hockey, an let the hockey people do thier thing.

The PO push starts today? Mr Snow. You insult even the most casual of fans and solidify the belief of knowledgeable fans that your are a buffoon. Ponder this Mr Snow. The only thing that starts today should be the reality that this 14th place team YOU BUILT will not jump over SIX teams and make the PO's. Not this year, NOT next year and most likely not the year after that. Be truthful for a change. Stop treating us fans like illiterate morons. Be a man for once. Tell us what everyone but the most gullible of fans already knows. We need to hear from your mouth. Earn some respect.

Go ahead and say it, "Nothing positive will be done with this team before the lease runs out"! We dont plan on spending money. We will hover at the bottom of the cap floor and fill voids with band aids, rubber bands.& other teams castoffs. We will continue to defraud the fans and do as little as possible to improve this team. We will to stick to our plan. Knowing full well that it can not succeed. And since the arena deal is all but dead. We really no longer have any intention of succeeding here on LI.

And as for addressing the teams lack of scoring this summer. A little free advice. Alexi Yashin is not the answer so dont even insult us like you did last yr. As far as UFA go. Mark Parish & Jason Blake are finished and Ray Whitney is approaching 40 yrs old. And players like Dustin Penner and Steve Sullivan dont cut is either. So dont try and con us with acquisitions like those. We wont be fooled again. Its time you maned up Mr Snow and started telling the truth to the fans who pay your salary.

And Nolan only played the vets and played the trap. It was boring hockey and it wasn't going anywhere. One 8th place finish with no potential to go higher or further is not progression.

As to who is the right coach? How about a coach with a NHL track record. This team needs someone who has done it successfully before.

That comment shows what a joke Snow is as GM. The NY press is a joke as well for never calling out Wang and Snow. You can throw Bettman in as a joke as well.

If this team is still floundering like this 2 years from now, and JT doesn't ask for a trade or demand some changes, then he's not as competitive as we all think.
If anyone thinks he wants to have fun on a LOSING team for a vast majority of his career, then you're high on something.
I'm so sick of the crap. They are not making the playoffs, anyone who thinks otherwise, take a breath, relax and do whatever you call fun. If you do watch, take the positives out of the game, don't care about the results at this point.

Maybe Snow really is that smart. He is getting paid to do nothing. He gets no results and never has to answer for it.
